Provenance

8/9/99

Monday morning, back at work so what can I do to at work, Ferrari-related, besides calling out sick to go up and work on the car? Search the history! When I returned on Sunday, there was a message from Len Miller of the "250GTE Registry,"(www.250gte.com) so I waited until the West Coast reached a reasonable hour in the morning, and called Len.

Len explained that #5053 was one of the missing 330 Americas, so not very much information survives. His records only show that the car was purchased through Luigi Chinetti in NY. There were only two distributors of Ferraris in the U.S., and luck would have it, mine was purchased from Chinetti. I have some contacts that know Luigi Chinetti Jr., and said that Chinetti may still have all the records of his father's business. I will see if it's not too much trouble to get Chinetti to look up my car in his files. The possibility of finding the original invoice, and name of the first owner is quite exciting. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
