Roberto Olivo 250 GTE

The car is a 250 GTE 2nd series, manufactured in March 1962. S/N is 3373GT and that's the 401st car of that kind produced by Pininfarina. The car was originally charcoal grey with red leather.

The car has been registered on May 1962 to a certain Tommaso Tiburzi in Rome. Then, from November 1962 to October 1963 the car has been owned by Ludovico Scarfiotti, cousin of Gianni Agnelli (the owner of Fiat and Ferrari) and famous Ferrari driver. Scarfiotti won several races, including the 24 Hours of Les Mans, the 1.000 Km of Nuerburgring and the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix in Monza.

After that date the car passed from hand to hand several times and became property of an Iraqui businessman working in Italy. In 1988 it was purchased by a gentleman living in Perugia that restored it.

In 1998 I purchased the car, that was red over black leather, restored but not really "concours". I therefore decided to complete the job by correcting some of the errors and imprefections of the previous restoration.

It took me another couple of years to bring it to its actual condition. I have choosen my favourite colour combination, night metallic blue over tan, the same colour of the 3357GT that was built just one week before my car for Aristotele Onassis. The car is actually cuurently used to participate to Historical Rallyes and races in northern Italy.

Here is an original picture from the Pininfarina archives and shows the S/N 2181GT in November 1960 in my hometown (and Pininfarina hometown) Torino, in a little square named Piazza Cavour. The picture was meant for press release and other PR activities. In February 2001

I brought my 3373GT car in the same location and shot the same picture of my daughter posing as a model. Not that much changes over the last 40 years, apart from the trees that grew up! It's just a joke, but I liked it. I hope to see my pictures on your very nice site. All the best from Torino.   Ciao   Roberto Olivo
