Re: The Blog has been Hacked

The site was hacked when I tried yesterday, but all seems fine today. Sorry you had to deal with it, and let us hope that's the last time.

Re: GTO Engineering

Interesting development. Sorry to hear about it. Most Lancias not having quite the value of many Ferraris, there are fewer opportunities for replicas, but they do exist. There have been "resurrected" Aurelia Spiders that started life as Berlinas (I still get calls about a burned out one that passed ...

As I was saying...

Truth is, it's usually my own notes I need her help to read. My inspiration was my artist fathers' signature. I have surpassed him.

Re: Please Help me ID this Ferrari Hood

The 935 would be an internal PF number. The padding says street car, not competition. The slightly damaged tag reads "330 (space) 2", but my wife (hey, she's a retired nurse, she spent her career deciphering doctors' notes) thinks she sees an x between the 0 and the two, and, was there more after th...

Re: Air filter assembly

Once upon a time I had a Lancia Aurelia B24 with a frozen Flaminia Motor. I bought a correct motor that Max Balchowsy (Old Yaller) had installed in a Lotus Super Seven (a rather nice job, too, but really the wrong choice). Although it was a supposedly fresh motor with almost no time on it, I decided...

Re: Fuel Tank

Is it painted or undercoated? If you get someone local to clean it you can desolder all the bits and pieces yourself. I've used Nor-Cal Metal Stripping in Windsor (they also will happily do a shitty job of lining), but I don't know what they charge currently. Or you can make an inexpensive citric ac...

Re: Fuel Tank

John, I have to agree with all the comments about lining; just more problems waiting for you. Another solution is tinning. It's what I did on the Spider. Not all that expensive, esp. compared to a new tank. And when you can't get one, well... After chemical stripping, the tank is literally dipped in...

Looking for Dim Bulbs...

....to match the others on my 1955 Lancia. I am looking for older two filament 12V brake/turn signal bulbs with 20/3 watts rating and "standard" BAY15d base. Philips 12500 and Osram 7241 are the designations of the original bulbs, but later production uprated them to 21/5 watts. They don't play well...

Re: 250GT Distributor Caps

A minor comment re polishing distributor caps; keep in mind that rouge is made with iron oxide. While John was very careful to thoroughly wash his afterwards, failure to remove all the polishing compound could lead to arcing/tracking and resultant misfires.

Re: 365 GT 2+2 Clear Turn Signal Lenses - Advice?

Consider who you are trying to please....

If you like the clear, use 'em. If you get invited to Pebble, and you're really in the running, you can change them for the judges.

Re: Boxer Engine Removal

May I second Toms' advise re: the fuel lines? Regardless of the effect of modern fuels, they have aged out anyway. If you do nothing else, put fresh lines in.

I have seen what can happen to a 512 if you don't...

Re: 330GT 2+2 Bodyshell Rebuild

Just a quick note to mention that the reason for the holes in the center sill is stiffening, not reducing weight. That's why the holes have a rolled/pressed radiused edge.

Re: Electric fuel pump replacement

Hudson, We don't care whether it's "done" or not (I mean, when is it ever?), but if it's not running, bring yourself anyway, if you can. It's just a low key gathering, and only the Fiats are judged (by themselves). Free if you bring something on wheels, $5 to just show your face. Come when you want,...
