Re: John Fitch RIP
I got to meet gentleman John briefly at a book-signing at Laguna about 6 years ago; my dad says the closest he ever got to meeting Fitch was when John lapped him, twice, at Lime Rock in '64.

Re: Our friends in the path of Sandy
I talked to Dempsey tonight; they just got a lot of rain, no damage to either the house or his wife's shop on Chincoteague.
In Arlington, I had basement seepage, ripped out about 150sf of carpet; never lost power.

Re: clutch
agree; when I pulled the top off the tran, there were scary pieces of burnt metal in there, so I took it to R. Garre w/ the synchros I had received from Ohland; we ended up having to order a few extra items before Richard could button it back up. the tran is indeed a big beast, even with the tran li...

Re: clutch
ok - that explains why I remember removing the lower A-arm pans - to get to the half shafts! I did this job w/ Michael B on a lift and borrowed a friend's hi-lift transmission jack. Ohland supplied the synchros and clutch replacement kit. It was a big job

Re: clutch
I can't edit my posts, and I keep thinking of things I wanted to say . . . My first and second gear synchros had been dead for about five years (thus becoming a pro at the double clutch) when I decided that the clutch was also dead; so I never contemplated doing just the clutch. But it seemed to me ...

Also, we did not remove the seats; just remove the screws holding the console and the shift boot rings/rubber and carefully put the console upside down on the seat - careful not to pull too hard on the wires for the wondow switches. Depending on your year, you'll either have two or four of them and ...

Re: clutch
