With a little finesse it may be possible to remove the metal fuse part from a plastic fuse and install it on a blown ceramic fuse. This would allow you to reuse blown ceramic fuses.

Re: Exhaust popping 330GT
Another suggestion for a potential cause . Looking at your plugs 11 looks lean while 12 looks rich. They should be similar since they are feed by the same carb barrel. Try spraying some carb cleaner where the intake manifold meets the head while the engine is running. If the running changes it indic...

Re: Vapor Lock 330GT
Don't forget the fuel return line on the rear of the fuel manifold. It's purpose is to help reduce vapor lock by constantly circulating fuel through the fuel manifold. It is easy to check because line ties into the fuel filler. So all you have to do is open the fuel lid with either the engine runnin...

Re: Carb sync tool for Weber 36 DCS
I have had good success with a length of rubber hose and listening to each barrel. The trick to using a hose is to insert it the same depth and the same location in each barrel and holding the tube to your ear the same for each measurement. However most people seem to find this method difficult. Che...

Re: Oil Pressure relief O-ring size needed.
O-rings go by their ID size. Just measure the ID of the groove the o-rings fits in and also measure the depth of the groove. Using an o-ring handbook look up the closest O-ring that is just slightly smaller then the ID you measured (a bigger one will not install properly). Some sizes overlap so next...

Re: Ignition system
The Bakelite resistors are easy to check, just use an ohm meter and do a resistance check on them, they should be 1k ohms. Ideally there should be about 10k of resistance from the rotor contact point in the distributor to the end that fits on the spark plugs. I regularly check this resistance when l...

Re: Ignition system
Depends on what your definition of correct is. The Bakelite ends are the correct style and will work just fine. The wires should be Cavis not Packard but if you use some carb cleaner to remove the name not many people will notice they are not the same as the factory ones. The Bosch coil will work as...

Re: 330GT 2+2 power steering problem
Jim I have not had one apart, but the system has to have one otherwise it would damage the lines and seals. It will be in the pump body on the high pressure discharge side. The return for the relieve valve will dump the oil back into the reservoir. If you Google a common American style pump you will...

Re: 330GT 2+2 power steering problem
I would suggest taking a look at the pressure relief valve. If it sticking open you will lose power assist.

Re: Bonnet Question
The springs on my PF pop the hood open when I release it and they provide a slight assist when I open it. They will not hold the hood open. Based on your description I suspect ours are very similar.

Re: dual point timing, 330 with S85 Dist.
I agree it is very important to get them set correctly. You can check them on the car with a timing light, just need to made sure cylinders 1, 6, 7, and 12 are all set to the same advance relative to TDC. If 6 does not match 1 then the phase is off, same with 7 and 12. To set them it is much easier ...

Re: GTC Lucas alternator #
Found a thread that claimed it was "Lucas 11ac alternator in concert with lucas 4tr voltage regulator, I think they all came that way, same set-up as XKE Jaguar." Worth a look to see. Note 1961 to 1964 E-type is a generator so look for a 1965 or later. The series 1.5 came out in 68, the series two i...
