Re: pertronix ignition conversion anyone?

Timo: Can you please be more clear about what severe inherent flaws you found with the Pertronix product? Was it specific to the V12 Ferrari kit fitment or a more generic flaw? As I said I have used Pertronix point replacement kits on other cars and noted an improvement in reliability as far as star...

pertronix ignition conversion anyone?

I am working on a friend's two 1967 330 GT 2+2 cars and after replacing the wires and plugs I am still seeing ignition signal dropouts on one of the cars when checking the spark with a timing light. I am a big believer in electronic pointless ignition conversions due to excellent success with simila...

Re: need detail pictures or info about 330GTC hood latch cab

I ended up pulling the glove box out from under the dash and then I was able to see and reach the cable loop. You are correct that it was pulled way up inside the dash. It turned out to be too screwed up to reuse so I made a new one with the parts from the old one. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Re: need detail pictures or info about 330GTC hood latch cab

Here are some photos of the emergency release cable that is sticking out of the firewall prior to me re-installing the latch assembly. The heavy black thing sticking out from the firewall under the center of the cowl where the latch would normally be attached is the part of the emergency release cab...

Re: need detail pictures or info about 330GTC hood latch cab

ARGH! I have looked and looked but I cannot locate the other end of the emergency pull cable. I have the end that extends into the engine compartment just behind the center latch assembly but so far no luck on the other end. I do not want to reassemble the latch and primary cable without being able ...

Re: need detail pictures or info about 330GTC hood latch cab

Yes, the hood is NOT getting closed until I fix all of these cables so they work properly.
Thanks for the confirmation that there is indeed a 90deg bend in the cable. What a bad design.

Re: need detail pictures or info about 330GTC hood latch cab

OK, I have a photo of the pull handle and the crudely welded bracket that it is attached to. What I guess I am not understanding is how the cable is supposed to attached to the pull handle, The hole in the handle is perpendicular to the plane of the cable so I would think it would cause a hell of a ...

need detail pictures or info about 330GTC hood latch cable

I am trying to fix a broken hood latch cable on a friend's 330GTC and I am puzzled by something I found when I unbolted the latch from under the cowl. The main hood release cable seems to run from the center of the cowl over to the driver's side of the engine bay and then through the firewall to end...

Re: broken gear reduction starter on 330GTC

What's my problem? It BROKE! The car could not be started! Then I had to pull the headers off that side of the engine to get to the starter AGAIN. In my book that is a problem.

broken gear reduction starter on 330GTC

I ordered a gear reduction starter from ferraristarters.com for a 330 GTC we are working on and received it promptly in 2 - 3 days. After installing it, we were pleased with the way the engine spun over and immediately started right up. Unfortunately the next day after pulling the car around the bui...

Re: New Bodge of the week?

Yes, that makes sense. Thanks

Do you know if there are there any photos available anywhere showing a disassembled view of one of these angle drive assemblies?

Tom:
Can you explain a little more about what you mean exactly by "more adjustment can be found in the foot of the distributor" ?

Rubber kit for 330 GT clutch master cylinder

I am working on two 330 GT cars. One is a late four headlight car with the five speed transmission and the other is a two headlight car. Both cars had bad clutch masters. I replaced one even though the cylinder was OK. It was just the rubber seals that had deteriorated. I have tried calling some Fer...
