Tom,
Bob Smith said (6 years ago) a sewn visor is accepted without penalty in the concourses in which he has shown cars (a lot). Maybe this is a solution looking for a problem?

Re: 1965 330 Series 1 Sun Visor repair
When it came time to restore the visors on 9129, my upholsterer, Dan Kirkpatrick (Dan Kirkpatrick Interiors, Chouteau, OK) contacted Bob Smith about them. Bob said that Ferrari judges accept a more practical sewn closure since the heat sealed method is virtually impossible to duplicate, apparently, ...

Re: Engine removal from my GTC
From TY, above: “Brave man. It's a lot easier to separate the transmission from the engine!” That’s fine if you have a car lift AND a transmission jack. I had neither. In the building in which I was doing the removal, I did have roof trusses and a come-along, but I was limited in how high I could ja...

Re: Engine removal from my GTC
I wasn’t sure that the block’s flywheel housing could handle the stress of a cantilever loading. The adapter frame, as built, allows for installation or removal of the flywheel. That said, a V-12’s CG is further from the extreme rear of the block than a V-8. If the casters on the engine stand are no...

Re: Engine removal from my GTC
'kyou, Steve. I just made the adapter frame. Vintage Connection, that did most of the work on 9129, used their engine stand which is, apparently, from Harbor Freight. In addition to the length of the engine, I included 2 or three inches between the flywheel and the back of the frame to clear the soc...

Re: Engine removal from my GTC
Also does anyone know if a standard (Harbor Freight again) engine stand can work here? Suggestions? thanx. s Two HF engine stands put together. See http://www.parrotbyte.com/kbc/ferrari/PFCoupe/EngineStand.htm. The V-12 weighs too much to be hung from one end. Kerry, Sorry. Beg to differ. See below...

Re: Removing knock off wheels
The pictures below are of the centerlock socket system I got for 9129 when I owned the car. I bought it from SSBC, but I’m not sure they still sell it. The socket itself was made from a big (OTR tractor?) socket available from NAPA. I’m not sure what size it was and I can’t measure it since it went ...

Re: Engine bearings and con rod bolts supplier
Simon, I think I got undersize brgs from T. Rutlands but this was about 10 years ago. ARP had rod bolts but I got the idea that they were limited run (not listed in catalog) and just happened to have a few sets in stock. ARP has a very good reputation. Worth a try on both. If you don't know the hist...

Re: drive line noise
George, I had a problem similar to yours but just the whining, no vibration (at least that I could tell from normal operation). Maybe you have TWO problems. Anyway, the symptom of my problem was a whine related to vehicle speed, coming from the rear axle. I think it occurred whenever the car was mov...

Re: scissor jack for 330GT
Rick, I once heard (on this site?) that one should NOT use the jack holes to jack a 330 because of possible structural weakness. So, I bought a small, light floor jack (NAPA BK7761004 which comes with a nifty carrying case) that can be put on a strong point (frame on the front, leaf spring mount in ...

Re: found some mystery parts
Guys, Whether the car uses a centerlock or lug bolts or lug nuts, after I get the wheel back on the hub and the fasteners installed, I torque the fasteners to the maximum I can with the wheel off the ground (about 30 ft-lbs), then I jack the car down onto the ground and then, with the car in gear, a...

Re: found some mystery parts
Bob and Dyke, 1. No, I am not certain that the damage was done with a lead hammer. I don’t know why anyone would use a lead hammer much less a steel hammer knowing that the kind of damage shown in the picture might occur. Also, what about aiming for the wing and, instead, hitting the fender, the whe...
