It is my understanding that the Blaupunkt Frankfurt is also proper for the 250 GTE. I hope so, as I already have a bid in on the first radio that Tom pointed out! I found a Blaupunkt site that told how to identify the approximate age of Blaupunkt's by the letter in front of the serial number, which ...

Tools

You might want to contact some of the previous owners about the tools. My 250 GTE came with a pretty complete toolkit, but the wrenches were a mixture of Beta-Auto 55 and Craftsman. I went back to the seller and asked if I could look at her husbands toolbox. As one might guess, I found a mixture of ...

Bar

Take another look at the bar picture:

What is that to the left of the dummy bartender? I think it is a couch made from the back seat! OUCH!

No Respect

It gets worse. The trunk of this car was made into a couch! It did not sell, but you can see it at : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=911074155 I emailed the guy about the serial number two weeks ago and he said he would look. I haven't heard from him since. The bar doesn't seem to...

Antennas

I was looking at a 1991 issue of Encyclopedia of Supercars magazine, which featured a 250 GTE with the antenna mounted on the roof, just above the center of the windshield. I cannot believe that the factory used four (or maybe more) different locations for something as basic as an antenna, so I have...

Radio

If I have my perspective on your photo right, your antenna is located on the body, between the rear window trim and the trunk. My antenna is on the rear fender, to the left of the trunk. So far we have three antenna locations identified. By the way, great news on the show! I look forward to being in...

250 GTE Radios

I have noticed that Blaupunkt Frankfurt radios regularly come up for sale on eBay. Most that I bid on get purchased for a considerable sum, but as I have a lot of time before I need it, I will keep bidding in hopes of a bargain. I found a site that identifies the year made by a letter at the beginni...

First Drive

Outstanding! I have been following your work since close to the beginning and like all on the site am truely excited to finally "drive" along with you! This site keeps me inspired as I slowly move along the path of restoration of 250 GTE # 4247. Yesterdays post assures me that it can be done. Keep u...

Hood Bumpers

Great idea with the silly putty! I will take note of that for when I get to that stage. Your bumpers look new. Where did you get them?

Uso E Manutenzione

Oops! My computer guy just told me that an acrobat file would be rather large. When I get back I will explore other options.

Technical Manual

Ferrari did make a "Uso E Manutenzione" for the Ferrari 250/GTE Coupe' Pininfarina 2+2, as it says on the cover. I purchased an English copy on Ebay some time ago and there is an Italian version for sale right now. It is about 60 pages long and has a variety of topics from clutch specs and maintenan...

Windshield

Not having yet messed with my windshield, I cannot understand how yours could not go in. Presumably the windshield is the same shape as the frame, so assuming neither are tweaked, shouldn't it just slip right in? By the way, the new message board looks good! Thanks again for all your work on this si...
