Re: SCAGLIETTI BUCK OF MASSIVE WOOD
I have a couple of questions. Simple:(?) When did they stop using the bucks? Or the date at which they remained for very limited production cars. Naive: Were there two types of bucks? I had always thought that body bucks were use to check the fitting of the panels that were formed elsewhere, poundin...

Re: 250GT Distributor Caps
Thanks Ed. Just want to report on the appearance issue with my distributors. I washed mine with soap and hot water, then buffed them on the wheel with some rouge, applied new numbering and what a difference this made. The Bakelite actually gets a few shades darker after this "exfoliation" process. ...

Re: 250GT Distributor Caps
Cornelis, thanks as always for the reference pictures. Looking at your pictures, it seems to me that the original caps start life in a much darker shade of brown (almost black), then over time they get lighter. Agree? Your pictures answered another question I was going to ask, and that is, is the l...

Re: 250GT Distributor Caps
Ed, I suspected the black ones to not be Bakelite. It's really all about appearance, the pair I have on the car is undamaged and functions fine. john Why don't you just polish the old ones? Use a plastic abrasive on a rotating cloth wheel, cloth disc on a Dremel tool for between and around the igni...

Re: Crazy idea?
Some time ago, I posted the following on FerrariChat Comments on '59 TR replica? I would appreciate hearing any comments any one might have about a replica of a '59 Testa Rosa constructed from a Series I 330 GT. Here is a link describing the car: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yrquuuxxad...ssa%201959.pdf...

Re: Transmission and Differential Oil
Hi Steve, There's a neat tool that I use I bought from summit racing: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wmr-w1145/overview/ I don't know how well it would work moving the 250 wt gear oil into the earlier axles, but will work great with the watery Redline synthetic stuff. Tom I was so inspired by th...

Re: Starter Heat Shield
Anyone happened to have a starter heat shield and clamp for a Series 2, 330? I've got nothing to work from. Thanks My series 2 330GT had no starter heat shield, and the car appears to be quite original. Kerry's series 2 also had none, but I believe that he made one for it. Kerry is the expert on al...

Re: Spark Plug Wires
John: Solid core wire should have essentially Zero resistance. High quality spiral wound wire should have no more than 100-150 ohms per foot. Remember, the Bosch connectors used by Ferrari in the 1960s are 1,000 ohm resistors. I have seen quite a number of them go bad, but they are still available....
