Re: Front Wheel Bearing Preload - 330GT

Hmm - thats good advice. I have access to a press, and am sure I can figure it out if I take my time - but finding the time is not a sure thing. I may take the hub to my mechanic (Boston Sportscar) and let them have at it if It looks like too much.....

Re: Front Wheel Bearing Preload - 330GT

I think Tom and Francois are about 2.5 hours away. Things are compact up in the corner here, but not THAT compact..

Sounds like you are suggesting exploratory surgery. I have the puller. Just need to figure out what to look for

Re: Front Wheel Bearing Preload - 330GT

So I finally got into the garage and checked to see if it is the bearings or the king pin that are causing the wheel play. It is indeed the bearings; I can grab the disk (caliper removed) and move it, but the end of the spindle stays still. The bearings are roller bearings, NOT ball bearings, and ha...

Front Wheel Bearing Preload - 330GT

Moving on from the toolbag discussion - now I have to figure if I want to resolve a wheel bearing issue or have it done. Last fall, my car failed inspection (Massachusetts) because there was too much front wheel bearing play (they jack up the wheel at the suspension mount, and then pull/push the top...

Re: Tool Bag. Again.

Thought I would let folks know what I ended up doing. I ordered a bag from Richard Ward. From my research, it needed to have 11 loops per row instead of 10, and that's how Richard made it. It came out very nice - I have stocked it with modern Beta55 wrenches and Facom wood handled screw drivers. The...

Re: Tool Bag. Again.

Great picture! I wonder - does anyone know how close Toms 250 bag is to a 330 bag? It seems that all of the various available nages have slightly different numbers of tool loops. The Re-originals has more than Toms picture shows and Rich Wards has fewer.....

Re: Tool Bag. Again.

Hi Tom Concourse is not my objective by a long shot - my car has a long way to go before it is "judgeable". For a jack, I actually have an old Mercedes jack that looks close and fits well. I might even repaint it blue ;-). I did stumble upon a company in England that sells an entire reproduction too...

Re: Tool Bag. Again.

Thank you for all the excellent replies. Given that my car is relatively early, I will go with a single bag. There seems to be no sure indication of black or brown, but I am tending towards black. I have not been able to contact parker hall yet, but will still do so. I did get in contact with Rich W...

Tool Bag. Again.

I know this topic comes up every few years, but even after reading thru the various postings and websites, I am not clear on if any one of the 3 or 4 different bags from various suppliers are more "correct" than the other . I am not sure it even really matters, since I intend only to create a tool s...

Re: Heater hose for Ferrari

I received the hose I ordered from ebay. Even though it is marked Aeroquip 2556-8, it does not really show the spiral fabric outer layer. Maybe too old?

Re: Cooling System Part Finishes/Colors

I finally have a follow-up on two fronts. One is that I had my rusted and pitted inlet pipe restored. I had it done at a chrome-plating shop that normally restores rusty bumpers and trim parts. They first plated on a thick layer of copper to fill in the pits and holes, and then finished with a layer...
