Re: The Best Penetrating Oil
Thanks for posting. I will give this 50/50 mix a try. I'm currently marinating some Cheney clamps in WD-40, will try it with the Acetone/ATF mix (the clamps are in pretty good shape so not sure if it will make a difference, but worth a try). I'm not sure if it's a well-known trick or not, but I foun...

Re: feedback on powder coating mag rims
There are two issues with magnesium if not properly treaded: porosity and corrosion. If they are stripped every bit of magnesium inside and out needs to be covered with zinc chromate primer to prevent any issues. The bubbling is probably from surface corrosion of magnesium (I was originally thinking...

Re: Wheel trim rings
Sorry -- the thread I saw was on Fchat -- no wonder I couldn't find it through search. That person was able to get them, so they're gone now.

Wheel trim rings
I thought I saw a comment in a thread where somebody was looking for wheel trim rings, but can't find the thread. Here are some that were just listed on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160436632807&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123) I have no relation...

Re: Motor Mount Nut Pitch -
I see Suburban Bolt has them available and can be ordered in small quantities (only a $10 minimum) (http://www.suburbanbolt.com/shopping_ca ... 44301200CS**+++++), but I'm getting a certificate security warning on checkout. I'll make some phone calls tomorrow.

Re: Motor Mount Nut Pitch -
Roger and Kerry,
Thanks for the very much for the feedback -- I know exactly what I'm looking for now. Will call around the usual suspects.
Thanks,
Peter

Motor Mount Nut Pitch -
Does anybody know the pitch of the motor mount bolts for series 2 330 GT? I believe they are M12 diameter, but the 1.75 pitch nuts I have on hand don't seem to be the right pitch. Looking at McMaster Carr, they only carry M12 1.75 castle nuts, so would also be interested in a source for the castle n...

Re: ORIGINAL LICENSE PLATE FRAMES
I was looking at some old magazine photos and came across these two. Picture3.jpg Picture2.jpg The pictures are from Sports Car Graphic, Jan 1967. The car in question is probably a new one at Harrah's (MCM) in Reno since it has a Nevada dealer plate. As you can see, there is no plastic surround, no...

Re: ORIGINAL LICENSE PLATE FRAMES
Thanks Kerry, this helps a lot. It looks like it's not difficult to create the standouts from rubber and it's good to hear that the plastic backing is for Europe only (I wouldn't have noticed that without you pointing it out). I'm not too enthusiastic about drilling, but happy to have found the prop...

Re: ORIGINAL LICENSE PLATE FRAMES
It's the right frame. The US rear frames for the 330 GT don't conform to the body profile. Instead, they used standoffs. Thanks Kerry. I have the frame only, so I guess I'm missing the key part for fitting to the body. What do the standoffs look like, are they something like 4 rubber spacers that g...

Re: ORIGINAL LICENSE PLATE FRAMES
Posting this in an old thread because it contains the part numbers for the original frame. I bought what I thought was a US original rear license plate mount (rear USA 242 74 530 02). Photos are below. It's supposed to be 242 74 530 02, but I thought the frame would have much more of a curve to it, ...

Re: Bought an Italian car; not running
Congrats Bryan. That is an absolutely beautiful car and should be a great project to get back on the road. Whatever you do, you must resist all temptation to merge that gorgeous body with this chassis :D : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270369418662&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmot...

Re: Taking Care of Teak
I tried a few teak oils: 1. Meguires - this is pure oil with no polymer additives 2. StarBrite (their spelling not mine) - this has polymer additives and is pretty highly rated in web reviews 3. Watco teak oil - available at Home Depot Meguires was my first choice because it was a pure oil, but it d...

Re: Need help identifying unconnected wire under hood
The problem now is trying to get it plugged back in! You said it has two female plugs, so perhaps the ones going to the transmission are extensions. The switch on the transmission should take males, and is really only accessible by removing the transmission tunnel and the two front seats! Thanks fo...
