Numero Interno

Is there anything to be learned by deciphering the Numero Interno of the 330 series engines? Has someone correlated these numbers to assembly dates? is there reference material documenting changes made in the production of the engines that the Numero Interno would indicate?

Re: GTC starter removal.

My solenoid contact were indeed quite pitted and eroded, so I did a minimum of polishing but I would be interested in knowing where new contacts can be bought for reference or if my repair turns out to be short lived.

Re: GTC starter removal.

Here's an update on my starter refurbishment. I removed the starter and solenoid and proceeded to take it apart. It was instantly apparent why I was just hearing a "click" sometimes instead of that wonderful whirring sound of the starter engaging. The solenoid contacts were almost entirely black and...

Re: Horn Detailing

I'd like to another data point to the horn obsession. Attached are pictures of my apparently original blue horns from my GTC 11157, which was manufactured in early 1968, slightly overlapping 365 2+2 production so my car carries many small details that are also typical to those early cars. I cleaned ...

GTC starter removal.

After successfully changing out my motor mounts and needing to remove 3 of the 4 exhaust headers to do so, I decided to remove my starter motor because it would occasionally not engage, requiring multiple hits of the ignition key to get the car started. Having read about the difficulty others have h...

Re: 330 GTC motor mount replacement?

Thanks for the comments about my son...he's on the right track. Here's an update on my motor mount replacement project. After trying to figure out the best way to remove the old mounts and experiencing some struggles I final got the old parts out. Here is a summary of what I ended up doing albeit wi...

Re: 330 GTC motor mount replacement?

Thanks for the encouragement Tom. Ok, a bit of progress last night, Tom Yang's tip to jack up and wiggle the engine to free up the left heat shield worked so now I have access to the headers and motor mount. Unfortunately the header flanges are somewhat rusted to the studs preventing the header from...

Re: 330 GTC motor mount replacement?

Looking at Tom's posted link it appears that the aluminum mount must be removed with the rubber attached. I have removed the right side heat shield and exhaust header but I'm having a difficult time even getting a wrench on the two lower 17mm nuts on the mount and it appears I'll need to remove the ...

330 GTC motor mount replacement?

Can anyone please provide a brief dis-assembly procedure for replacing the rubber parts of the motor mounts on a 330 GTC? How about the best source for the parts? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards, --Tom M.

Re: wiring

I agree with Tom, not from my rather thin Ferrari knowledge but from working on a great variety of old cars both foreign and domestic. I would also bet that the positive marked terminal should be wired to the starter terminal that is common to the battery...all the disclaimers apply to my advice due...

GTC 11157 is also ribbed, exactly like the photo with a a very close spacing.

Original hoses?

While trying to determine what hose clamps were originally installed on my car, a 1968 330 GTC. One of the clues is, what I believe to be, the original heater hoses. These hoses are the ones that go between the heat exchangers and the valve mounted on the top of the engine block between the distribu...

Re: Hose clamp ID

3. Late GTC's used the "Daytona" style radiator with the oil cooler built into the lower tank. This is best system as it will help heat the oil more quickly. Cars with the 2nd system run best today with shields over one or both radiators to keep the oil temps up, as the twin radiators over cool the...

hose clamp tangent

Further research regarding the correct hose clamps for my car led me to the parts manual. The regular parts manual for the 330 GTC does not reflect what is installed on my car. My car has oil cooling lines that pass through the bottom tank of the radiator and a water line that sprouts from the under...
