Michael, it's Loctite 545, for hydraulic fittings. Let me know if you have trouble finding it; my offer to send some is always open. Not to say that this is right, but when I replaced the radiator in my wife's Tahoe, the transmission cooling line goes through the radiator and I used the Teflon paste...

I think there's a Locktite product you might try. I have some and could send you a bit in a syringe if you'd like. Don't remember the product number off hand. Not readily available at the FLAPS. Works pretty well. Also might try the teflon paste they sell in the plumbing section at HD. You might get...

Rebuilding a mechanical fuel pump

In a recent previous post, I noted that my car died when I came to stop. Better with the e-pump on, but still some drop in RPMs. I corrected the floats and the needle and seat setups, but it didn't do a thing, so I'm thinkin' maybe this is a mechanical pump issue. How hard is it to rebuild? Any one ...

Rudy, thanx for the note. The hood is from 330 GT #6181 and would thus look totally familiar to you, but not to me. It was advertised as probably being from a GTC. regards. steve

As noted, I got the trunk open and found that the cable was bound up right as it entered the lock. Probably could have cut the cable and still had enough to make it work, but bought a new shifter cable (I think, not a brake cable) for a tandem bike (Shimano...only the best for my baby!) and new rubb...

Yep, the Greek food was great, but that didn't keep me from the other venues, tho' I barely got the caviar and Champagne! I really liked the variety of cars at Quail, but it ain't gonna happen this year. Shaugnessy was right in the thick of it, as expected. s

Anybody going to the Concorso?

We were planning to go to the Quail, as it was excellent last year, but we got put on the waiting list. So I'm pretty sure we'll be at the Concorso. Anyone else on the list gonna be there? s

Correct, the ammeter only tells you what's going on in the charging system, and a new battery won't affect that. Anyhow, at 1200 RPMs the meter reads in the positive zone. I hadn't thought about the current draw from the system itself and yes, it was hot as hell, so both fans were on furiously! Furt...

oops! I took the car out and fooled with it after work AND HAVING THE FUEL PUMP ON DOES KEEP IT FROM DYING, tho' the RPMs do drop from about 1000 to about 650 or so, coming back quickly enough to keep it alive. I would think that rules out a timing or vacuum issue. Tho' almost certainly unrelated, I...

I've done that ^&$%$%#%^^# wheel four times now. I think that the air, trapped between the inner tube and the rim, was compressed by the expanding inner tube, or it could be some sort of contamination. Either way, it's makin' me nuts. thanx again for your advice. I'll check for a vac leak. s

330 dies when stopping

The 330 has been on jackstands for 6 months while I repainted the wheels (one still has a bubble or blister, presumably from air seeping through the porous magnesium, despite the use of an inner tube) and re-repaired the radiator. I think my current problem was there previously, but when I come to e...

emergency trunk release...was stuck 330 trunk

Despite much gnashing of teeth and profane utterances, I am still unable to open the trunk of my 330 gtc. Acts like it's locked, but it has never been locked. I've tried all of the usual two-man maneuvers; all to no avail. The owner's manual says that there's an emergency cable, but I can't seem to ...
