Re: Vapor Lock 330GT

As usual Dyke brings these tips to us that always make sense and work well. Another application for MMO, is to help old engines that have been stored or not used for many years; a little squirt into each cyl. can help keep sticking rings and rust from freezing up engines. Makes a lot of sense that i...

Re: Ferrari 250 Gte Accelerator kick plate

Tom S. should have some kicking around, probably in very used condition that could be used as a pattern. Any good body shop could then easily reproduce them for you.

Re: Driving the wheels off, really!

Dyke, all of my mags had those serrated "lock" washers and I had a very hard time removing the centers because of the deformed bolt ends. Sent them to Skippy who painted them nice using the paint color you recommended. I noticed when cleaning up the threads the bolts and nuts were at least grade 10 ...

Re: Driving the wheels off, really!

Dyke, you can see the mark in the mag where the lock washers dug in, and yes they peened the ends at the factory, but it seems these were removed at some time and not installed very well.

Re: Driving the wheels off, really!

I noticed no lock washers in the photo, missing or not shown? A good use of Locktite is also a is also advisable if the wheels were ever taken apart to paint.

Re: Electrical Board - Ignition problems

The bare copper not brass items you questioned are jumpers or interconnect wires to connect the terminals to each side of the block. Be sure to clean these as well as the wires and the insides of the blocks terminals. Also do this for the other block on the board.

Re: Electrical Board - Ignition problems

As Dyke has pointed out on block "C", also remove the wires from block "D", and clean these wires and sockets as well. Ferrari used many dissimilar metals in many connectors. Brass, copper, tin, lead, steel; all create corrosion due to the difference in chemical make up of the metals. This factor, a...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Some additional input on Tom's note; the red voltage regulator (Marelli) is a solid state type and cannot make any sound (ditto for the Lucas). The black voltage regulator with the metal cover is a relay type and can make a buzzing sound even when the engine is not running. Put your hand on it as yo...

Re: GTC Alternator Help

Ed, BTW there are two rebuilders close to each other in Chandler, the other is "All Start Electric" at 13501 Chandler Blvd. Try each, as I have had luck with each, but one or the other may not be there anymore. Jim

Re: GTC Alternator Help

Ed, there is an old alternator shop not too far from you in Chandler, and he may have a fan or brackets that could help.
They are at 795 E. Chandler Blvd., 480 814-2864. Some times they will let you root around their stocks, could get lucky.

Re: Resistor sparkplugs

Dyke, Tim, my typing skills are poor, yes we all know and use BP6ES plugs. I noticed this after I saw it later. It seems Tom does not have an edit button to use like the other sites have. Ebay does have the correct BP6ES available.

Re: Resistor sparkplugs

The reason for resistor plugs was their ability to reduce ignition noise in early AM and SW radios. The 1K resistance has little effect on system performance or load on components. I also agree with Dyke that the non resistor plugs are best for the earlier cars as they allow a slight increase in plu...

Re: Ceramic Vintage Fuses

Try one of the VW dealers that have been around for awhile, the bugs used them. In AZ they have a couple of VW restoration parts companies that supply the sand rail guys, and they have the original fuses including the 30A size. Google VW suppliers of mod stuff for the air cooled models. Jim

Re: gas gauge sending unit 330 GT 2+2

George, Sounds like you now have the correct ohms and readings on the sender that you need, and as said above earlier, try to again make proper grounding to the sender. Connect a jumper wire from any of the 6 mounting screws to a good ground like the frame or seat belt bolt. These gauges are quite s...
