Re: nut size for 330 manifold studs

I just measured the nuts on my 40DCL carbs and they are 8mmx1.0 with a 11mm hex. I do not see why you could not take a 1/4-20 nut and tap it to a 8x1.0. The 1/4-20 should have a 7/16 hex which is almost the same as 11mm. 7/16 = 11.1 mm

Re: nut size for 330 manifold studs

Gi 330 4HL: Very nice engine detailing. If you are into diy Ferrari service, a great investment is a metric thread pitch guide. They are not expensive and will keep you from choosing the wrong nut, screw, bolt or stud. They are a series of small blades much like a feeler guage with each of the diffe...

Re: found some mystery parts

In regard to Treue's post, I believe there is incorrect info provided. On my 250's the left side had RH threads and the right side had LH threads. The direction of the arrow indicates direction of removal, which is opposite of thread hand. Bob A

Re: found some mystery parts

Hi Tom: Are you sure that damage came from using a lead hammer? I have had two different 250's since 1970 and have never come close to dinging the knockoffs when using a lead hammer on a steel nut. The socket, which was not an option in the 70's , certainly makes the job easier, but I think someone ...

Re: drive line noise

In looking at the pictures of the two driveshafts, there seems to be some missing information . The slip joint makes the length adjustable which is necessary to allow the differential to move up and down on the springs. The other shaft is a fixed length. The differential does not move in an arc ther...

Re: 250GT Distributor Caps

Unless my understanding of the mechanical advance mechanism is flawed, I the rotor actually moves as the advance is brought into play. I would seem that the factory would set the rotor to be close to one end of the cap tip and the rotor would fire along the rotor tip as the ignition advances with RP...

RE: Shifter boot

Hi Tom: In regards to the shifter boot, i think i have seen a rubber boot under the leather which would act to proctect tne leather from a oil, grease and road grime. Is that correct? Bob

Re: 4247 GT is heading for Monterey!

Tom: Regarding the position of the tools, isn't it possible to have turned the bag over when new and arranged the lengths of the loops to accomodate the tools as arranged in the picture? Not sure it was the result of the seamstress. Bob

Re: clutch woes

If the clutch disk is hitting the heads of the flywheel bolts, shouldn't it make quite a scraping noise when it is being released? If this is the problem, there should be easily visible evidence, correct? Bob

Re: amp meter reading question

If you really want to know the amount of current drawn, connect a digital multimeter set to read dc amps between the disconnected negative lead and the battery post then turn the key to the "on" position and take a reading. It will probably only be one or two amps. Most meters will read up to 20 amps...
