Re: Horn Detailing

Just some more detail, if you choose to service the compressor. The air filter system is not real sophisticated, so an occasional service (once every 10 years) might be a good idea. Here is the view with the top off an 8D compressor.

Re: Horn Detailing

Just some more data on serie 2000 later model Fiamm. I would have thought the end caps were all the same for a given era, but i have my doubts based on the following photos. Blue NOS trumpets set compared to candy red trumpet set, both in the E3 era. Plastic cap marking not exact same either. It wou...

Re: Horn Detailing

Yes, here it is: (sorry for the poor picture.. not much light available in the garage right now, and the flash just washed it out worse) Not too bad after I lightened it. thank you. Re: Horn Detailing

The E regulations come from the DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norm) industry guidelines that had guided manufacturing since the 1920s.When the European guidelines came into being in the late sixties and heavily during the 1970s the E with a little number next to it became part of many products. E marking...

Re: Horn Detailing

Just as a note as well - I personally do not have any Fiamm compressor stamping photo data for the era 1964 thru 1967 ..........and the early era photo data of 1961 thru 63 is what i have learned here at tomyang.net from yoose guys. So i am still requesting more photo data of Fiamm compressor stamps...

Re: Horn Detailing

Here are a couple of pictures. The first is stamped 112:I believe that this was original to GTE 3305.The second is stamped 309 and came with one of my PF coupes but wasn't original as they would have had Marchal Stridor horns:Note the red and green oil caps with one attached on the filler pipe whil...

Re: Horn Detailing

Craig,The trumpet base number appears to read "2119". No idea what this would mean. Rudy van Daalen Wetters1963 GTE s/n 40011966 330 GT s/n 8705 Hi Rudy, We need a good photo of this trumpet stamping to evaluate. I have not found trumpet bases stamped after this early 60's period, so not a lot of d...

Re: Horn Detailing

Just for another data point, here is a serie 2000 set from the 70's (i think). Note the plate graphics, the information displayed, and stamping 6M. note the TIPO M/1 12v.........not MC/1 note the E3 marks....what does this signify? How about the short style plastic chrome trumpet nut covers, the "ta...

Re: Horn Detailing

What do these stamps mean? Can you correlate them to a year or horn type? Hi Tom, I can give you my best guess so far based on the couple dozen Fiamm compressors i have good knowledge of. My theory prior to this TomYang thread was the first digit stamping indicated year of manuafacture and the foll...

Re: Horn Detailing

Wow, fantastic photos Tom and John, that is the detail we need. I dont think i have ever seen the trumpet stampings before, but maybe it is an early 60's era trait that did not carry into later years. My opinion on the 117 stamping is that it is really a 111 stamping, but this is my opinion based on...

Re: Horn Detailing

Hi Craig,My compressor plaque is stamped 309. Sorry about the photo quality. I took about a dozen and this was the best of all. The problem is that the plaque acts as mirror to the flash. I can can take another in daylight if you'd like. Thanks.john John, Great info, thank you. It would be nice to ...

Re: Horn Detailing

Here it is. John, Thank you for the picture, but i cant make out the actual stamped number. What is it? I find the best technique for something like this, is to put the compressor on an open flat bed scanner and just scan at 300 or 600. Because of an open scanner bed your background will be black, ...
