Re: Need help identifying unconnected wire under hood

Well, Peter, if you were a registered owner (http://www.330gt.com), you would have just received an annual update with information about the wiring diagrams. Either contact me through the contact page in the registry or PM me here and I'll give you the details on ordering. Guilty as charged. You co...

Re: Need help identifying unconnected wire under hood

Ding, Ding, Dine -- we have a winner. Thanks Kare and Tom, I haven't been able crawl under to see where it goes yet, but seems like it is the reverse light switch: Exhibit A: Just checked and the reverse lights don't work Exhibit B: I originally spotted the wire hanging under the car Thanks very muc...

Need help identifying unconnected wire under hood

I found a pair of disconnected wire under the hood and am hoping someone can identify where it should be connected. It is a pair of wires, both are red with black stripes and have female terminals on the end. The wire pair with black rubber surround originates from the right side of the fuse box whe...

Tom -- thanks for putting this website together and maintaining it over the years. I don't get to visit as often as I like, but it's a great resource and I'm happy to contribute to the great community you've built.

Re: replacement parts classische programm

That's a lot of disclaimers, not surprising though considering their methodology. I know one person who put their car through Classiche. It was an ultra low mile 308 and he was able to get it done through a local dealer, who took LOTS of photos and submitted to Classiche for certification. The deale...

Re: replacement parts classische programm

I think there is a lot of disdain for Classiche because they don't offer much for the typical owner. Most owners couldn't care less about Classiche certifying their car. The owners know their cars much better than Ferrari can determine in their quick inspection process. What's more troubling is that...

This is interesting stuff. Does the Black Oxide require the penetrating oil to applied on a regular basis, or is it a one time application.? I guess I'm trying to determine whether the black oxide is cosmetic or provides some corrosion protection.

I was able to get the old emblem off with chisel and a Dremel. The old glue looks almost like it was a putty. Any recommendations on what type of glue to use to apply the new one?

The pieces certainly look good PeterP! I believe this is the system you are talking about: http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=134&itemType=PRODUCT That's it Tom. The link below is the rust dissolver - I was really amazed how well this works as long as you let it sit long enough: http://www.e...

While I decide whether I want to risk trying to remove the old emblem (concerned about damaging the lid), I decided to try out a couple of items I ordered from Eastwood over the winter. The first is a rust dissolver and the second is a plating kit, both pretty inexpensive. Most rust removers are aci...

Kerry -- thanks for the feedback. This helps a lot. I don't mind destroying the original, but I'm more than a little scared about damaging the paint if the chisel slips. Will give it a shot tomorrow. I wonder if heating it with a hair dryer will help loosen the glue. It's a little late for you now, ...

Need fuel lid emblem help

I bought an NOS fuel lid emblem to replace the current one with worn chrome. The new one looks great, but when I go to install, it looks like a different mount. The new one has a screw back and, as near as I can tell, the old one is glued on since there doesn't seem to be any fastener underneath -- ...
