Good point John. It's probably a good idea to keep a set of points (or two, for the Ferrari) in the tool kit. Since my car starts and runs great, I'm going to leave well enough alone, but having the option of a Pertronics set up sound great when it becomes cheaper than points in the long run. It's t...

Hi Yale, First, dwell changes as the points wear, but electronic ignition eliminates this mechanical switch with solid state. Second, the triggering of the points are affected by many factors including worn distributor bushings and lobes, but electronic ignition can lessen these issues with either a...

Hi Fest,

You don't have to explain it to me! I totally understand. The satisfaction comes when you hit that horn, and you can envision what is happening because you were inside that motor fixing and cleaning!

Hi Mike, Sorry to hear about your problem. Sand blasting may remove too much material from the peaks of the thread, and weaken the connection of the knock-off to the hub. You may be able to sand off the excess chrome plating by finding the high spots with some machinist's blue. I would put some on t...

Hi Fest,

The plugs are more decorative than anything, so if it were up to using rubber stoppers, I'd simply go with nothing.

Hi Pete, Thanks for the advice! I'm going to get my hands on some regular sheetmetal so I can practice some more. The shop tha I'm at has a TIG wlelder as well, and the goal is to some day learn how to weld with TIG, but I've got a lot to learn how to walk before I learn how to run! I've been readin...

There's also a new loaction for Concorso, with a separate event at Quail Lodge on the same day! The FCA event looks to be free, but the Quail Lodge is $60 bucks!

Why is it always people want to break up a good thing?

Hi Kerry, I agree with NEVER using the jacking points on these old cars, and I've thought of another method. They make these rubber freeze plugs that go into engine blocks. They look like rubber stoppers with a bolt through them. What if something similar was made to fit inside the jack hole? You'd ...

Hi Chris, Consider yourself lucky! I've had attorneys contact me on two occasions, and all I was doing was passing along the information! It seems that some shops find it easier to pay a retainer for their lawyers than to run a good business! As a fellow American, remember that 1st Admendment rights...

Hello All, I agree with Chris, I'm afraid of the liability when posting negative comments on a particular vendor. I will, however, try to add vendors to my "Suppliers" list if people want to make submissions. The (*) next to some of the vendors are people who I've used, and I will try to give some k...
