The original washer is aluminum and I believe it is softer than the annealed copper. As I said, I didn't want to tighten the bolt enough to get the copper to seal. I think I may have tried using copper at that time but it's been a long time. I used the oversized washer to containg the O ring as they...

Fuel Filter Fix

I ran into the same fuel filter leak in my 64 330GT. I tried copper but it wasn't soft enough to seal without putting more tights on it than I cared to. My solution was to braze a washer under the head of the bolt. The ID of the washer should be 3/16 inch larger than the bolt. Center the washer on t...

Wimp!!!! Been there, done that, don't recommend it. Another thought is to try a jumper directly from the battery to the solenoid. tim

Overdrive problems

Tom, one other thought. Check the voltage at the solenoid with the engine not running, when the solenoid works, and running, when it doesn't. Do it with a digital meter as they can be more sensitive. It takes a certain amount of juice to run the engine and if the charging system isn't quite doing it...

I use Wix #42148 on my 64 (5769). They measure 6 7/8in od, 5in id, and 2in thick. I believe the application is Fiat 850. Reisist the temptation to use K&N. They flow lots of air but lots of dirt as well. Be nice to your valve guides. tim

Overdrive problems

Tom, I will mention this only because some else may have had this problem. I know you've checked it. When I brought my 330GT home 25-26 years ago, the O/D didn't work. You could hear the solenoid click but no O/D. It's amazing what filling both trans and O/D unit will do. There are 2 fill holes and ...

I have a couple still on a Mr Gasket skin-pak. The part no. is 40B. They are listed as "Spark Plug Terminals- Bakelite Insulator". I didn't find them in the current on-line catalog but a good HotRod shop should be able to help you. tim

I used the Bosch terminals and had trouble with them. The car began to run badly. When I changed to Rajah terminals, it all cleared up. I also seem to recall, although my source has gone on to that big garage in the sky, that using resistance wire between coil and cap was sufficient to quell ignitio...

Tom, in the Morgan car community (I've got 2 of those as well) we have a term you might better understand now than last week. It's called "perma-smile". tim

Fun, isn't it. Even after 25 years of ownership, I still get that feeling when I drive mine. Congradulations. tim

Mine comes on fully at 5 gallons remaining. It will flicker before that. The needle movement remains fairly linear. tim
