Andrew, Michael's explanation of why the lobes point in different places on different banks of the engine is absolutely correct. I didn't even think of that when I wrote my note. By the way, I always talk about left/right and clockwise/counterclockwise as if I were sitting in the driver's seat. That...

Andrew, I think I followed your description but you have to remember that, for each cylinder, there are two revolutions per "cycle", one revolution for the intake and compression strokes and one for the power and exhaust strokes. Therefore, TDC is TDC but there are two TDC's for each cylinder per cy...

I'm proud to say, "I'm my own mechanic" -- but here's a photo of my Supervisor who's been under my car inspecting my work. I'm also testing my ability to post a photo and a hot-link to a larger version. Tom Kizer <a href="http:// i102.photobucket.com/albums/m104/TOMNISTUFF/FerrariStuff/Supervisor.jp...

How do sites like PhotoBucket.com work (ie. make money)? The site says it's free, but they ask for info like my date of birth. WHY? I'm so afraid of identity theft, that if it were not for the fact that everybody really is out to get me, I would think I was paranoid. I'm always suspicious of free th...

Tom and Jimmy, thanks for the info. Tom, does the engine have to be jacked up even if the headers were removed? Would removal of the headers make the PAIN IN THE BUTT step easier? -steve Steve, if the headers are not there, the procedure is: 1) remove old starter - piece of cake 2) install new star...

Tom, Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll put on of these in and have my original rebuilt in case I decide to keep it stock. Were the headers difficult to remove? -steve Steve, it was not necessary for me to completely remove the headers. The frame cross-member (the one with the chassis serial number) p...

I had a similar problem on my 365 GT 2+2 (#12293). It turned out to be a worn "nose" bushing in the starter. Apparently it allowed the starter shaft to shift over, misalign the pinion gear, and overload the starter. Eventually, the pinion gear would "bind" on the flywheel ring gear and the motor wou...

Jim, I'm not sure what you mean exactly by "service manual", but there are both a Parts Book and an "Operating, maintenance and service handbook" on EBay right now. I've never seen a service manual for the 365 GT 2+2 like typical garage mechanics use for repairing cars. The "Operating, maintenance a...

Interesting chart, but the Ferrari #s 2031 and 2037 don't match up. These O-rings are ~3/8" and maybe 1/2", not the 1 3/4 and 2 1/2" shown in the chart. BTW, Tom, you have to have BBCode turned on in your profile to have the quoting feature work. Kerry, BBCode is turned on. I was trying to eliminat...

[quote="330GT] Hi Brian, thanks for the information. I have a couple of additional questions: The parts book shows OR 2037 and OR 2031 with no sizes for the O-rings. Do you know what sizes these are? Also, does anybody have a full set of sizes for the OR part numbers? That would be quite useful to h...

Back in 2005 I posted my solution to V12 Ferrari Weber carb fuel leaks. I found that the torque on the banjo fittings was not adequate to keep the fuel rail from moving during engine vibration and engine torquing. Try this solution with a little (very little) RTV sealer on either the fiber or copper...
