Wiper Motor and Heater Valve
Wiper Motor and Heater Valve
Tom thanks for the information in your Email, as suggested I will post my questions here. Your heater valve is differant than mine probably due to you haveing the larger engine where mine is only the 3L. If anybody has an photos or a digram of where the heater valve goes (which hose?)under the hood please send me that information. My wiper motor only has one speed and does not park but it works. Is this a ground or wiring problem? Any help would be great.
Thanks
Gary

re: heater valve
I know that I have an incorrect heater valve on my series 3 GTE. Here are two auctions claiming to be supplying a replacement. I have not done the investigative work about which one is correct. Perhaps none of the above, or there are two shutoffs...

I do not believe either of the units on ebay is correct for my car. One I think is a unit for a 4L engine the other I do not recognize. I believe I have the right part; I was able to get it from Partsource. My real problem is the location and hose this valve mounts to. What I real need is a reference car to copy. Thanks for the post.

re: heater valve
Here are some pics of the engine bay (I think I see the valve....), as well as the diagram indicating location (#3):

Thanks for the photos! Why do you think your heater valve is the wrong one? It looks like the other ones I have seen on series I and II cars. Yours is installed differently than another photo I was just sent, the hose connections were reversed from yours. More mysteries! I will see if a third person responds and go with the majority!
Thanks
Gary
PS your seond link did not work.

re: valve
Those were just pics of random cars I found on the net. Mine is missing from the appropriate location and I have some funny Honda shutoff valve.

\wiper Motor & Heater valve
E bay item 2408997985 is a heater valve for a 365 GTC4 & I think may also be used on a 365 GT4 2+2 or on the 400 series engines.
I do not know of any applications before that

E bay item 2408997985 might be a valve for post 330GT's but many of us use these also since the valve that comes with our cars, the one that opens and closes with what seems to be bicycle hand brake wire, is next to hopeless in terms of closing off the heat.
Of course to use this one you have to open the hood and turn the the valve open or close. Not exactly heat on demand while you are driving.

Item 2408997985 was also used on later 330 GTs; 9161 has a pair. Perhaps also on GTCs. They sit in the hoses that go to the heater cores (one on each side). There's also a master valve at the back of the block that's connected to the temp control in the dash.
I managed to get the valve at the back of the block to work OK for regulating the heat during the season I want it on, but it has to be moved into the fully off position by hand.
None of this worked when we first got the car because all the internal gaskets had swollen to the point where they allowed no coolant to pass.
