Anybody see that 330 GTC in Ebay?

It's about to expire, but it's a red 330GTC

An hour to go and at $54,000

That would make a perfect next project for "tomyang.com!"

Tom,
Seems car sold for $57K (plus shipping and applicable sales tax, etc.). Looking at the pictures (espec. engine bay-yikes!), and not operated in 5+ yrs., it is predictably in need of complete rebuild. That's right up your alley, but it still makes the $57K a generous price, especially if you're going to pay retail for the restoration ($100K, or more).

Hi Jim,

Agreed, but if I knew ahead of time how much my 330 America would have cost, nobody would have benifitted from this website!

Engine rebuild aside, she would make a great driver if only the broken things were fixed, say $5K in parts, and free labor...

Oh, sorry, I'm dreaming again!

If the car truly has original paint, leather, and wood and still looks that good, it would be a mistake to do a $100K restoration on her. She probably needs $25K-$30K in mechanicals to become an enjoyable car in very original condition. If that's the case, she was well bought at $57K.

Wayne,
I agree with your numbers, if all was well after $25-35K, but on ebay, what provision for a thorough (ie., professional) inspection is there? And, I still have significant conerns about what would need to be done after 5+ yrs of non-operation. It may run at first, and then things would present themselves sequentially, rapidly running up the tab.

It would be a crying shame to completely restore that car

It looks in lovely original condition. I hope the new owner does a mechanical restoration only, i.e. engine, gearbox, rear axle and suspension plus brakes, and leaves everything else alone.

We don't need another overly restored Ferrari. One with the original interior and patina would have far more feeling about it. It must be hard on those without sunglasses going to most Ferrari shows nowadays ... if we are not careful it will all become too sterile.

Unfortunately that is over $100,000 plus expensive shipping over in Aussie land, and it is (I assume) a left hooker ...

while we're at it...

(hello, new member, engineering student at Columbia University)

tom's posted link about the 330 GTC made me visit eBay's car pages... yesterday they had a 550 maranello in "tip-top condition" (so they said) for $25000 --- since then the prices have risen to $75000 so there's the end of my dream. ;)

but here we go: a 1965 330 GT 2+2 (the one with the "funny" headlights") going for $24000... and there's not even 24 hours left.

so who's going to be the lucky one? ;)

cheers, jmp85

ps. another question for tom: what are your projects concerning the front grille for your car? i discovered your site last weekend and spent the whole day reading it... since rudi's retirement, have you contacted anybody else? ok, just curious...

This car is an interesting case. Kerry's registry site shows that is was at one time"a rusty wreck" and that the engine is in a 250GTE. And notice they don't show the engine bay....so what is going on here? Yale

Anyone contact this guy on the 330GT 2+2 to find out the story?

About the grille...
I've been trying so hard at getting the car on the road, I haven't spent much time working on what to do with the grille.

Once I get the car driving, I promise I'll start addressing that issue!
