250 Engine Intake Manifolds

Post by John Vardanian »

O rings get sandwitched between the intake mainfold and the cylinder head to brovide sealing.

Question: How tight are the hold-down nuts supposed to be? Do you sinch them down all the way till you can't turn the nuts anymore, or do you tighten them to a certain point?

Thanks,

john

John,
That is a very good question. I have looked in all my old service manuals and there is no mention of tourqes for this area. Probably someone like Patrick Ottis would know.

Hi John,

I'm sure there is a torque spec, but since these manifolds are on the vaccum side of the engine, there is a lot less to worry about. I know whenever I've asked Francois how tight I need to make something like this, he always responds, "tight enough!"

Common sense would tell me to cinch these nuts down just enough to squish the o-rings.
