Hi Tom,
Maybe your ammeter is intermittently open internally? You could jumper it with a fat piece of wire if you experience the problem again.

I don't presume to know how Ferrari configures their ammeters, but assuming your ammeter has an external shunt, have you checked those connections?
My son and I just had an electrical battle with his Mustang. No reverse lights. Turned out to be resistance in the switch on the transmission. Only 2.5 ohms, but apparantly enough to cause the lights to not come on! I had checked the switch with a multimeter set to beep for continuity, and it beeped, so I wasn't watching the display. Meter says the switch is working, jumpering the contacts in the harness connector turns on the lights, but with the switch hooked up, no lights!!!!! AAARRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
Why can't things be broke or not broke, instead of this in-between stuff??
