Tom Shaughnessy and Zac Dugger's new Shop
Last Sunday, Chuck McCreight (AKA 67GTC) and I drove south to Oceanside, California to check Tom Shaughnessy and Zac Dugger's new restoration shop. Tom and Zac hosted a BBQ after the Orange County Ferrari Club's annual "Ortega Run". Even in the rain, I am told 75 Ferrari's participated. Though not all stayed, we had a good collection of wet and muddy cars and a great group of drivers to hang with. Wayne Ausbrooks made the trip and his GTE (SN 4289) ended up parking in some fine company!

Once inside the shop, I was was shocked by a rather non Tom and Zac concept; Space! They have a lot of working room, complete with a nice office, three lifts and an excellent selection of cars in various states of repair. That's Zac in the white tee shirt in the second photo.

Zac continues to work on SN 2169, which looked great in its new dark red paint. The brakes and suspension are being installed and the interior is at the leather shop.

If you are ever in Northern San Diego County, you would find it well worth your time to swing by. Who knows, Tom might even bless you with that part you need. Of course, it didn't work for me, but who knows???

It Really was Great!
Tom and I had a great time...
The FCA Ortega Run always draws interesting older Ferraris.
My GTC didn't make the run this year, but will next year.
Thanks Tom for your support!

Thanks for the write up Tom, glad you and Chuck could make it down.
Things are coming along and for a one man show I have been getting things done, with any luck the GTE is finally turning the corner and the final assembly stages have begun. I have also been swamped with the 5 other restorations I am doing at the moment and when I get a chance I will post some pictures of Beckman's incredible work he is doing on that very special PF Cab you guys may have seen a while back that was rusted from the middle of the doors down.

Can't wait to see more photos of your GTE. What a beautiful shade of red?!

thanks I like the color too, Rosso Rubino MM16119 or the best match we could come up with modern paint and lots of attempts.
BTW I had side glass made up for the car and had a second set made while I was at it. so if any one is interested the price the glass place gave me was very fair and I will just charge my cost. Also if there is more need I have had the templates made and the turn around is really quick. the glass is tempored and has the "securit" bugs etched in it as the originals. Unfortunately do to some really poor handling of the glass over the years the car was apart, some of the deeper scratches could not be polished out so I had to replace the orginal

Hi Tom,
no actually it is undercoated but even the best stuff available today is nothing compared to the original asphalt based product they used. The stuff everyone uses is a Wurth produst and gives a little texture to the underside of the car but no nearly the 1/4" build that the original stuff did. trust me I would love to find the good stuff and I am sure most painters would as well, that original stuff can hid just about anything:)

This is undercoated? Isn't there something out there that looks a little lumpier like mine does? Of course, just drive it a year or so and when covered with oil and dirt, you will not be able to tell the difference!

The material I scraped from under my car looked and felt more like the ceiling stuff that was popular in the 1980's. (well, not that coarse, but darn near). The Wurth stuff has much smoother finish.zac wrote:Hi Tom,
