just for fun.
Without this factory approved tool you will be totally lost to properly assess your tread life.

Re: Tires
As always, you are a wealth of information. Cool tread gauge. You might be right that the Pirelli's are simply a marketing response to the XWX's of world.carello wrote:just for fun.

Craig, you imply that this tire is not yet in production. Is that the case or are they already making them?

I just looked at this site.

They had 215/70VR15 XWXs for GBP299 with free international shipping for Michelins and Pirillis. It's a special offer I think. Check them out.
My XWXs have 90% tread BUT are over 20 years old !! They look OK but are a bit hard. On a penetrometer guage they were "85" on the readout and new XWXs were 65, with painted steel being 100. Whatever that means but it does mean my tyres are harder than new ones. So I am trying to figure out what I should get.

Re: Tires
Just inquire about the Pirelli Cinturato from Lucas. Here is their response:
We have the 205VR15's in stock, as well as the tubes. The dot code is 1210.
The diameter is 27.8" and the section width ( widest part of tire ) is 8.3".
These are not the original molds. They are new molds created for the re-issue of the Cinturato line of tires. Side markings should be the same, but I cannot confirm that. The dimensions should be the same as the original tires.
Finally, the tire treads are comprised of 1 belt of polyester and 2 belts of steel. The sidewalls are nylon and polyester plies.

Re: Tires
When Patrick Ottis did the PPI on my Daytona, he was adamant that the car would look better and handle better with the repro XWXs sold by Coker. Doubt I can tell the difference for the $2800 or so it would cost, and, with my luck, they'd probably ding up my Borranis. s
