yikes!
I have been afflicted by the
Pernicious BRAKE SQUEAL!
this seems to have been precipitated
by adjusting the Parking Brake
no squeal (at all) before this
after adjustment started squealing BAD
after brakes were fully warmed up
and then coming back into town into traffic
(most embarrasing)
loosening the Parking Brakes did help (some)
but it is still there
today I backed off the Parking Brake Shoes all the way
but the Brakes still squeal
the 2 phenomenon may not be related
i.e. the brakes may have started to squeal
independantly of the Parking Brake issue
but
I don't think so
plus applying the Parking Brake slightly
makes the squeal go away
so
DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF A CURE?
I have a 'tour' coming up
(OR wine country with FCA,
will I be seeing any of you all?)
and would like to resolve by then
SQUEEEEEAL!
Mine used to do the same thing.
There's a forked springy thing that centers the parking brake pads away from the rotor when they're not applied. I've forgotten exactly how it looks, but I think you might be able to loosen its mounting bolts and center the pads better over the rotor.
