FYI, my 365 GT/4 (18759) has engine number 01054. I haven't found PF numbers on it, yet.

I am not sure whether there is a number stamped in the "traditional" position under the right header, behind a heat shield on these (365GTC/4 and 365GT/4 2+2) engines.

Daytona engines are stamped on right skirt of block (under the heat shield, so very difficult to spot) as carbs are sitting right between heads. Early Daytona engines appear to be stamped with chassis number, but several people say they only found engine number on later Daytonas.

On 365GTC/4 and 365GT4 2+2 engines there nothing but one or two hoses between heads, so it is an easy place to stamp and as easy to look at, of course. I would not expect to find other stamps on these blocks, but then again my knowledge is limited too.

I don't have enough data for educated guesses but as:

15989: motor#00248, ass.#238, body#307
15777: motor#00464, ass.#461, body#446

It appears 15777 is much later car than 15989.

Comparing build order by chassis number contra assembly number (very unscientific, so only done to show the pattern!):

15989 is chassis number #401/500 and comparing to ass.#238 it overtook 163 cars in production, making it "third quickest" in all series!!!

15777 is chassis number #348/500 and comparing to ass.#416 it was overtaken by 113 cars in production, making it "16th slowest" in all series to come through production.

So maybe 15777 was collecting dust among other stored LHD-chassis waiting for call into production while 15989 was a RHD chassis built ASAP to an existing order by Maranello Concessionaires of UK. Anything could have happened, your guess is as good as mine really.
