250 GTE 2+2 manual dating question

Post by FerrariStuff »

Hi all,

new to this forum and starting off with a question...

I am a bit lost at dating this 250 GTE owner's manual:

Image

It IS vintage, it is in Italian only and counts 26 single sided pages (21 text, 5 with technical drawings). There appear to be no pages missing.

In the specifications, it shows the radiator content to be 11,5 liter.

It measures some 8.5 x 12.2 inches or 22 x 30 cm.

There are no dates or references to be found whatsoever (unless I overlook them of course).

The cover is thicker gauge paper than the contents. Text on cover is printed, contents look to be VERY early xerox copies or "cheap" printing.

Similar manuals, at least the content, exist as Chinetti reprints but usually come in a burgundy colored binder. This one SEEMS to have a factory cover. The binding is simple staples.

As far as I know, there are 7 different owner's manuals for the 250 GTE 2+2:

1) 1961, 88 pages so no go...

2) 1961, 26 pages but a radiator content of 15 liter so no go...

3) 1962, no futher details known to me so who knows?

4) 1962, 11 liter radiator (yeah!) but 28 pages. so again no go...

5) 1962, dated 9/62 (no date on mine) and wrong format (21 x 15 cm) so no go?

6) 1963, Italian / English / French and mine is in Italian only so again no go...

7) 1963, dated 3/63, no date on mine and wrong format (21 x 15 cm) so no go...

Who, oh who, can shed some light on this?

Is this a previously unknown version or is my information on the 7 known versions incorrect?

Best regards,
Jack Habits

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the welcome and apart from asking questions, I hope to be contributing my $ 0.02 as well from time to time...

Best,
Jack
