Tach drive seal?

Post by David Booth »

On the topic of work that be done while ensconced in one's living room (see below)..

Anyone know what sort of oil seal is in use at the bottom/back of the Marelli S85A dsitributor that drives the tach? Where the tach drive shaft exits the back of the distributor body, there's a bronze flanged bushing to support the back end of the shaft, and then what seems to be a leather oil seal affair, still inside the tach body just before the boss that clamps the tach cable in place. It's part #39 if any of you have the old exploded drawings of the S85A. Anyone know for sure what this is made of and/or whether a replacement is available for it?

The seal is a typical rubber oil seal with a spring. It is available from Maranello Auto Parts. If you can get it out without too much damage, it is probably available at a bearing and seal supply house in your local area.
All the seals and bearings in the dist are pretty generic.
