Considering a 330GT 2+2

Post by ROLindsay »

Hello Gang,
I am considering purchasing a '64 built, '65 titled 330GT 2+2. It would be my first classic, V12 Ferrari. I currently own a fantastic, totally restored '79 308GTB (Standard Specification car, dry sump, deep chin spoiler, etc.) and have also owned a beautiful Mondial QV.
With that as an introduction, you already know I'm a little crazy. I'll now go away and lurk and learn.

With best regards,

Rick Lindsay / Tulsa, OK USA

Hi Rick

Great to hear from a long time former FerrariList friend and to hear that you are still in the enthusiast fold! I don't have any advice to you other than that I think you will have a lot of fun with a classic front-engine V12!

That and of course just to say hi to an old friend!

Good luck in your search,

John

Hi Rick,

Good luck with your purchase. V-12s are totally different animals than the V-8s, but I'm sure you'll love it. I've always felt the V-8s as the "boy racers," and the old 12s as the "gentlmen" of the Ferrari world. Whaterver the perception, you'll never be considered crazy by us!

Lurking is fine (from the stats, I can see a bunch of you guys out there!), but feel free to ask questions on this forum. Remember, I knew very little about Ferraris when I started this whole journey over four years ago, and one of the ways for me to learn was to ask questions!

Hi Rick,

I'm just down the road from you in McAlester. I now own 67 2+2 no. 9129 of which I am just starting the restoration. The engine is in Vian at Jim Lewis Racing Engines. Jim fixed the damage done by a dropped valve and is now Timecerting and restudding the block.

My first Ferrari was an 82 European 308GTSi (41395) which I sold before I bought 9129.

Call me with questions at home: (918) 423-6177.
