4105GT. It looks like the car was restored right after the movie, then sold (I will let you guess why). The engine may now be residing in SWB 2643, which was the prototype for the GTO. No word on where the body and chassis went.

Ok, it now looks like the Maranello Rosso Collezione in San Marino dropped half of a fake GTO body onto the chassis of 4105 and put it on display to show what the inside of a GTO looked like.

Guess I should have checked my other resources before hitting "Submit"!

Ok Kelly (Andrew?), you got me thinking about this car... So, I have been swapping emails with the curator of the Maranello Rosso Collezione and 4105 is definitely in their collection as a GTO display and they have the engine as well. Guess the SWB comment was premature. Anyway, they have GTO 3851 and have made this sort of 3-D Cutaway diagram out of a bit of 4105 to show how the car was constructed. I suppose that would be interesting. By the way, the guy from the museum says 4105 could not have been in Poliziotto Sprint. However, I found a copy of its Italian Auto Registration and it lists the movie's Producer as the owner and the License Plate matches the one in the movie. You be the judge. There are some classic scenes from the movie where the driver attempts a slalom through hay bales, hitting every one. However, after his instructor shows him on a white board that he is supposed to miss the bales, he becomes the awesome driver you see in the film. Even does some cool handbrake turns. I will try to post them in the video section of my site this week.

Actually, the Maranello Rosso Collezione is pretty cool. They have a pretty significant collection of cars; Ferrari's, Alfa's and more, all collected by Fabrizio Violati. There are a couple of video's out there of his Ferrari's on a track, with the (borrowed) GTE Police Car leading the pack. I will try to post those as well. The curator has confirmed that they also have GTE 3429, which is complete, on display. In addition, they have GTE 2825, which has been made into an SWB recreation. If anyone is planning a trip to San Marino, let me know. I have a list of photos that I would like...

Heh, denial is always the first stage after a surprice. A car playing a lead role in a movie would make a very nice exhibition piece for a museum, so having destroyed a restorable car to create a artsy-fartsy heap-of-scrap GTO sculpture I prefectly understand they don't want to look back.

Best wishes, Kare

The video's have been posted at http://www.ferrari250gte.com/library/video/index.php. Look for 4105GT for the Poliziotto Sprint movie and 3999GT for the Squadra Mobile.
