Does anyone know the correct group size for a modern style battery for a 1960 PF Coupe outside plug? I tried searching to no avail...
Thanks.

Battery group size for 250 PF Coupe?
Re: Battery group size for 250 PF Coupe?
Hi Greg,
I believe it's a Group 27F.
Approximate measurements.
Length: Width: Height:
12.5 in 7 in 9 in
I think the top frame is 13 inches long, but the 12.5 fits.

27F is right. Inerstate is one company that still makes that size.

Thanks guys!

Please be careful to choose a battery with the positive and negative posts in the correct corners. They never look right if they are reversed.
I lived with the wrong battery post configuration on my Queen for several years and finally got it right.

I think the "F" designates the position of the battery post.

You are kind of right, Tom. According to the BCI terminal locations shown on the left side of page four of the CAT BATTERY brochure at the following web site, there doesn't seem to be any consistent terminology for locating the battery terminals, however BCI has at least made a "road map" to show where they are on any given group number. It wasn't easy to find, but I got lucky.

A little research revealed that my earlier battery with the wrong terminal placement was a 27N, even though I asked for a 27F when I bought it. I guess one has to double check everything. I hate it when that happens.

Re: Battery group size for 250 PF Coupe?
A general rule of thumb on batteries, looking down on top of the battery the positive post without any designation (F or R) is usually on the top right hand side of the battery. To the best of my knowledge F and R designated batteries have the positive terminal on the top left hand side. There are exceptions as always, I replace a lot exotic car batteries with an Interstate MTP-91, no F or R designation, oddly enough it has the positive terminal on the top left hand side. It's clear as mud sometimes. If you are replacing a battery in a vintage Ferrari you should check out Antique Auto Battery for a rubber cased tar topped battery with a gel cell mounted inside. You can add a Marelli, Barchem or SAFA sitcker to it. I've installed a few of these and they work and look very well in these cars. www.antiqueautobattery.com
