Little Rubber Booties
Little Rubber Booties
Greetings.. When I bought the Big Yellow Taxi 30something years ago, all the terminals on the coils, ballast resistors, and distrubutors had little rubber booties. I'm thinking that's not correct from what I've seen on a number of "correct" cars. Where should I have booties and where not? Tim

Re: Little Rubber Booties
Hi Tim, I have seen OEM installations with rubber bootie remnants on all terminals having to do with Marelli. Distributors and coils are frequent areas of troubleshooting. My thought is the booties are simply wiped away and not replaced. The Marelli booties do not fit the wires, so they appear to be only for electrical insulation.
Have not purchased any lately but most likely would order from Britsh Wiring

Re: Little Rubber Booties
The parts diagrams show booties in various locations. Here are the onea for the coils.
Series 1: Series 2: Note, neither show booties on the solid red wire from the coil to the resister block.
The series 2 shows one on the wire at the distributor while the series one does not.
If nothing else, you can whip out the parts book to show the concours judge why you have them is various places.
