lucas cooling fan
Could anyone tell me the correct finish on the older square bodied lucas cooling fans. Mine has taken quite a beating throughout the years and I would like to clean it up.
Thank You

Re: lucas cooling fan
Thanks Tom. I am assumng the fan blade stays natural aluminum or is it painted with dull aluminum paint?
Re: lucas cooling fan
Cory: My memory of the cast aluminum fans is that they are satin black. That way, they do not stand out in the radiator opening and are not as visible.
Re: lucas cooling fan

Re: lucas cooling fan
After taking some thinner to see what was under the layers looks to me to be grey.250GT wrote:Only for info, or to confuse

Thank you for the pictures.
Re: lucas cooling fan
Hammertone silver for the Lucas fan motor, with bare metal end plates.
Re: lucas cooling fan
Thanks to all for your help.
Re: lucas cooling fan
my research on this Lucas square motor color , 1958 thru 1968, does not agree with hammertone silver, hammertone grey, hammertone black, wrinkle black, flat black, etc.......... and I would ask to see a clear picture of a period of an original Lucas square motor, not an NOS spare part, taken from a period vehicle.
I realize rattle can grey hammertone is the choice of modern restoration.
Cheers
