Starter Heat Shield
I need some help, please. The two clamps are not in the centerline of the shield, can someone tell which side goes up ? Thanks.

Re: Starter Heat Shield
Hi John,
Is this for the Lusso? It all depends how it fits to the header pipe and allows the heat shield to cover starter correctly. With the header installed on the motor, it should tuck pretty close to the head covering the starter.
Here's a picture of shield mounted on a two piece header that I think would be similar to the Lusso? If it's the one piece header you're working on, the mounting would be different. This heat shield was modified to fit this car that was missing it's shield, but the mounts lined up with the header pipes.

Re: Starter Heat Shield
Thanks Tom, I found this picture in the blog before making my post. The manifolds on the PF coupe are 6x1 and the shield is smaller. I had the headers ceramic coated and thought I would change out the rusty clamps with stainless, but did not take note which way the shield mounts on the right side manifold. At a glance it looks like the clamps mount right in the middle, but they are offset.

John,
Yes offset "short" part UP otherwise its touch the threads and nuts off the cyl heads
so there is still an ventilation opening.
See below.

Re: Starter Heat Shield
Anyone happened to have a starter heat shield and clamp for a Series 2, 330?
I've got nothing to work from.
Thanks

Re: Starter Heat Shield
My series 2 330GT had no starter heat shield, and the car appears to be quite original.IslandGuy wrote:Anyone happened to have a starter heat shield and clamp for a Series 2, 330?

Kerry's series 2 also had none, but I believe that he made one for it.
Kerry is the expert on all things 330GT, so he should chime in.

I'm skiing for a couple of weeks. I have tracings of an original at home. I'll scan and post them when I get home.IslandGuy wrote:Anyone happened to have a starter heat shield and clamp for a Series 2, 330?

In the meantime, see http://www.parrotbyte.com/kbc/ferrari/S ... Shield.htm for how I made mine.
