I'm having trouble with the starter motor and want to pull it, but there doesn't appear to be enough space between the pan and frame to remove it. Looking through the service manual, there is no mention of special procedure for this so I was expecting it to be pretty straightforward. Am I missing something here?
I checked the forum for info on this but haven't found anything that suggests that this should require pulling the pan for access.

330GT 2+2 starter motor
Re: 330GT 2+2 starter motor
On a 330, the rear most header on the starter has to come off, so that means the y-pipe has to come off as well. With the header removed, removal of the starter is possible.
Be aware there are two size nuts that hold the starter on the block. One is 17mm and the top one is supposed to be 16mm. If someone mistakenly put a 17mm nut on the top stud, it'll be that much harder to get if off with the engine installed in the car. Our 16mm wrench is ground thin as it is to get access.
Useless trivia: I think there are only two things on a Vintage Ferrari that requires a 16mm wrench; the starter nut and the fuel line banjo bolts! Can anyone think of others?

A 5/8" inch will usually work on a 16mm hex, it's what I used on that nut.
