are the stock lucas cooling fan/fans wired to push air thru the radiator or pull thru the radiator??

The Lucas fan equipped cars push air through the radiator. Be careful when changing Lucas motors, as some are wired to pull air, and will require the rotation changed to work on a Ferrari.

ok thanks for the info - -to reverse it, is it a matter of changing the leads/ground?

I replaced one of my motors with one from a Jaguar, the weird thing was there was an arrow mark on the end cap that apparently indicated rotation direction but it actually rotated the opposite direction. Unfortunately reversing the spade connections did not reverse it, I needed to reverse the wiring inside by un-soldering and re-soldering. I don't remember which wires I switched but I recall it was intuitive and it worked perfectly.

the lucas fan bodies were painted hammer tone gray not silver.

a guy on ebay sells these restored, painted, internals redone - and he indicated that there are numbers on the fronts of the motors that tells him which type of fan - which determines the rotation.

the GTC one we have issue with is a 83878 #

I'm going to order one now and will check it out when i get it -

also - if the rotation is done internally - then does it matter which terminal you make ground on the motor when you install them - they have a #1 and #2 number above the terminal post.
