Hi-Torque Starter

Post by John250gte »

Tom,

On your June 28th Blog where you are subbing into the 330GTC a new hi-torque starter, what is the part number on the new hi-torque starter that you have used and is it the same as one that would be used on a 250 GTE 3.0ltr?

John,
I just see you must have an GTE,
so you must order of course the 250 starter not the 330 above (same company).
the fixation studs on a 250GT are in one line and not offset as on a 365/330.

Thank you 'C', I just acquired 2457 and it's my first classic Ferrari. It will be undergoing a full restoration due to two specific issues that were inherited from the previous owner (of just over 40 years). Even though the car is an ultra-low mile car (just under 4000 original miles), it suffered a relatively minor engine bay fire back in the late '60's and the two mitigating factors that are going to prevent me from 'preserving' the car and force me down the 'restoration' avenue are :
1) that the car was BRUTALLY rewired after the fire with all circuits having been re-run without the use of a fuse panel ... making it ripe for another fire.
2) there was some bonnet damage due to the fire (I already have a brand new hood for it), but the original hood was repaired through the GENEROUS application of body filler and then the entire was given a BRUTAL orange paint job!

Through the eBay listing number that you have provided, I have taken note of both the listing as well as the company's website and will be contacting them directly. Thank you very much for your help and clarification between the 330 & 250 starter motors!
