Manual calls for the following: Rear Axle - Shell Spirax EP 250
Gearbox - Shell Spirax EP 90
What is a contemporary replacement for these?
Gearbox & Diff Oil Viscosity
Re: Gearbox & Diff Oil Viscosity
Restoration Supply has Penrite 250 weight gear oil that works for the differential.
a regular multi weight gear oil will work for the gear box, 75/90, 80/90, but we've been having good results using Redline MT 90 which is a synthetic. The synchros work better on a cold gear box because you don't have to wait until the gear oil warms up.

Re: Gearbox & Diff Oil Viscosity
thanks Tom.
It looks like the Penrite is a U.S. order item for which I was hoping to find the equivalent closer to home!
Probably going to be the route I go though...

There should be a local distributor of Penrite in your area.330 4HL wrote:thanks Tom.
