Can address the following:
1) For the timing marks, the 250 manual lists 10AF as 1000rpm mark and 42AM as 5000 rpm marks.
On 330 Flywheel, the marks are 10AF and AM12 for Advanced Mechanical. The AM12 is the only number I can find for AM series. Can you please confirm that AM12 on 330 is same as 42AM on 250?
2) There is two sets of points in each of the distributors. One set is for the odd number plugs, one for the even. With distributor 1-6 correctly positioned in car ,is the even set closest to the center of the car? Or to the outboard side?
thanks

Re: 330 ignition timing
The 12AM does not sound right, are you sure that it is not 42? As for the point set, when the rotor is pointiing to #1, the point set that is just opening is the one that is firing that cylinder. Hope this helps.
Re: 330 ignition timing
While I had my flywheel off last month (330 engine) it was convenient for me to put a dab of white paint on the timing marks so I could see them better with a timing light and I remember marking a line that was at 42 degrees BTDC (PM 1/6)

Re: 330 ignition timing
A belated update on the ignition timing problems we've been having.
We have ignition!
After days of swapping both new and old parts side to side between distributor units, it was finally narrowed down to coil, condenser, or resistor. On Friday, the problem was determined to be a intermittent fault with one of the new condensers I purchased from Rutlands, so the old ones went back on and the problem appears to be solved.
She ran great for a full 1/2 hour.
next time I'll buy a four cyl.!
cheers

Re: 330 ignition timing
It's a good feeling chasing out the demons. Are we talking about the resistors (mounted on the coils) or the capacitors (mounted on the distributors)? Thanks.

Re: 330 ignition timing
If your car still has the correct CE1E condensers ( no longer available), and the points are not too badly pitted. NEVER replace them. I cannot remember the last time I replaced a Ferrari condenser.
