330 GT 2+2 expansion tank location

Post by IslandGuy »

Anyone have a picture of one mounted on the car/radiator? I'm working with a car that does not have an expansion tank or any obvious place to install one. The parts manual shows the tank bolted to two bosses on the radiator, yet there are none to be seen.

Thank you.

On my Series II it's bolted to the bodywork under the front bumper (where the car would scrape if you bottomed out). I can try to take a picture but it's really stuffed in there. Internally it's just forward of the base of the radiator.

What year/SN is your car? Kerry has photos of the mounting points for early and late cars on his website:

Early: http://www.330gt.com/Encyclopedia/Image ... owTank.jpg
Late: http://www.330gt.com/Encyclopedia/Image ... 20Tank.jpg

It's easy to see where the tank sits in the "late" photo, less so in the "early" photo. My early SII has it mounted lower than is seen in the "late" photo -- it sounds like it's in the same place as Hudon's.

Clearly the late car, based on the photos...
I can see tell-tale evidence (now) of where the tank was. It looks like a few folks in Europe still sell the OEM part.

Thanks all!

Greetings… It's a silly place to put a tank. No access. I think the pressure cap goes on the expansion (recovery) tank and a blank cap on the radiator. this adds the complication of the hose between rad and tank is under pressure. One more potential trouble spot (unless you don't drive your car in 100 degree plus temps). Should the caps be two eared or four eared.

Non-Pressure Cap in on radiator, pressure cap on expansion tank. For a 330GT, caps are two eared.
