Spring Washer

Post by John Vardanian »

Anyone know a retailer that carries this sort of washer? I tried the usual suspects and aside from Alibaba where you have to buy 30,000 I have found nothing. Thanks.

John: Show the washer to Mike Pierce. I believe he supplied something like that for our Birdcages. They are used to mount the carbs to the intake manifolds to allow movement. If the carbs are bolted tight, the engine vibration causes the carbs to loose all float control.

Greetings… They are called thackeray washers and should be available from some of the industrial supply places.

Greetings… Some Brit cars used them. Moss Motors lists the 1/4 inch as 370-460. The big issue is the step half way down the spring. The drawing in their catalog looks correct but may not be exactly what they supply. Might give them a call.

Thanks, I did notice that Moss Motors carries these. I happened on some Brit car forums and seems these do not have the half-way offset. It was very helpful making the first post here, though. I had no idea they had a name "Thackeray". Googling this word brought up some good leads. It seems most of the retailers for things like these are in England. I was looking for some needle rollers recently, just plain loose needle rollers. You may as well be searching for hens teeth. Oh, you can get them so long as you order a min of 30,000. I found them in England at the quantity I needed for reasonable price.

Dyke mentioned Pierce Manifolds for these washers, but I think manifold studs are typically 8MM. I wonder if he would have the tiny ones. I need it in 1/4 inch. I'll stop by in a couple weeks on the way to Monterey.

I am trying to piece together a rear view mirror for my PF coupe and the spring washer is one of the pieces I need.
