Engine bearings and con rod bolts supplier

Post by simonc »

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best manufacturer of main and crank (big-end) bearings for a 330GT? We are looking for top quality and wondered if there is a 'preferred supplier' for these.

Also a question regarding con rod bolts. Are these re-usable or should they be replaced automatically. The WSM doesn't say and I was wondering what 'best practice' is. If they should be replaced does anyone have a recommendation for a supplier?

All advice is welcome.

Simon,

I think I got undersize brgs from T. Rutlands but this was about 10 years ago. ARP had rod bolts but I got the idea that they were limited run (not listed in catalog) and just happened to have a few sets in stock. ARP has a very good reputation. Worth a try on both.

If you don't know the history of the car, I think it would be best to replace the rod bolts.

Thanks Tom, I think we are sorted now. We use ARP stuff regularly - its the best, although the lead times can be crippling. I'll check to see if we need head studs for a 330GTC project we have coming up soon
