Isolation material

Post by Melchior »

Hello,

We currently restore the interior and need an isolation material for the propeller shaft tunnel. Does anybody know where to get this composite material made from fiber and a covering aluminium foil?

I also look for the isolation plate on the front of the tunnel under the center console - please see pictures.

Thank you for any hint!

Regards,

Martin

I would recommend to use something modern, as there are much better materials today. I am normalky going the original route but here you will not see it.

Hello Christopher,

I am quite close from Austria and also think about a modern material with all the advantages of decades of product development. My idea is to put an alubutyl foil right on the aloy of the prop shaft tunnel to reduce vibrations and on top a fiberglas mat to reduce heat:

I believe the feel of a 250 is not about uncontrolled heat and vibration - there will be enough sound and feel left which shall come mainly from the engine and not primarily from body vibrations.

Any comment appreciated.

Hello Martin,

I fully agree and see no issues using modern stuff
as long as one can not see it. I would recommend to speak to Mr. Krecht from Isoproq. He has lots of experience, lots of different materials and can send you samples.
