Oil flow path

Post by Jumprun »

I am interested in the oil flow path of the 330 engine, I don't remember seeing a diagram but is there a description somewhere? Or can someone please describe it?

From the sump, I think it goes like this;

Pick up screen, oil pump, oil filters, pressure relief valve, bearings/crankshaft/cams, oil cooler, then to the pressure switch, then???

I understand it is probably not entirely linear but I would like to understand the basic path through the main components.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Tom, here is one from the Merritt book for the inside plug motor. The difference is that your full flow filter is an external cartridge. Here the filter is a strainer inside the timing case. Hope this helps.

The Merritt book is where Dick reprinted 6 early owner's manuals. This page is from one with an inside plug 250 engine.
