I recently saw a post on Tom’s Facebook page regarding the correct details for coils with the square resistors. I was wondering what are the correct details for the earlier style with the round resistors.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors
Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors
Did the early GTE's have round resistors - i did not think so?
Im not 100% certain, but do not believe they did?

Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors
Ed: Early 250 GTE's definitely used "tootsie roll" coils. Please refer to the August 1962 Road & Track Road Test. The photo is a little hard to view, but you can easily see the soldered connections on top of the coil for the "round resistors.
Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors
thank you for the info and insight - so thru the early ellena period i have seen some pics with them on the cars and late ellena did not, then into the PF era (what was used?)
Now learning the gte used them.....
what was the determining factor for using the tootsie roll type coils?

Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors
Ed: It is all "tootsie roll" coils up into the GTE's. If you have seen photos of Ellenas and PF Coupes with the "square" resistors, you are not looking at photos of original cars.
Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors
Thank you - i agree, to clairfy my comment, i have not seen any with square resistors,( in the boano ellena cars), however i have seen early version early MM coils with/ without the tootsie rolls.
Those W/O either resistor had a built in resistor provision.

Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors
Ed: The MM series of cars used (for the most part) the Marelli B7 coil. These did not use external resistors.
