330 2+2 rear axle
330 2+2 rear axle
I am in the process of checking various items on my car and found what seemed to be an excessive amount to end float in the rear hubs. With a dial indicator I measured .012" on the right side of the vehicle and .030" on the left side. When I removed the axle nut and washer I found a spacer that does not appear on the exploded view diagram.
Is this arrangement normal? If so I plan to face the spacer off to reduce the float to some number I am not sure about yet. BTW, when I remove it and start to draw up the nut, I can feel it dragging like maybe the bearing is being side loaded etc.Tyler Schilling

Re: 330 2+2 rear axle
Tyler, it's been a long time since I took this picture of my axle hardware, but take a look at the second quadrant of this picture and you'll see a couple of washers that look like yours. Hopefully someone else can give you a more difinitive answer.

John,
Thanks for posting the picture. Those washer / spacers do look similar.
