2019 GTC4 Lusso vs 1966 330 GT video

Post by peterp »

My brother sent me this video comparing a 2019 GTC4 Lusso and a 1966 330 GT. It's a pretty great video in my opinion. I'm sure some of you have seen it already, but it's worth a watch if you haven't:

They talk about 2nd gear on the 330 GT being difficult in the video. It should only take about 10 minutes of warmup for 2nd to work fine in my experience. It's kind of crazy that Ferrari never fixed that from the 60's through the late 90's (when they had to for sequential F1 to work).

There's a Brad Paisley song video that makes a joke about that. The premise is that Brad takes William Shatner's 355 out for a drive without him knowing, and when he's caught he complains about 2nd gear sticking. William Shatner's response was "You found 2nd gear??? How'd you do that??". It's very much of an inside joke, but pretty funny. Starts at 3:47 in this video -> https://youtu.be/B9mpDAJOPac?t=227

Hi Peter,

I can tell you a freshly rebuild gearbox is not slow in 2nd gear, but its design probably wears faster than the other synchro rings.

This is one of the videos that cemented my desire to add a 330 GT to the garage. My GTC4 Lusso has been a game changer in regards to sharing the Ferrari experience with my young kids. Looking forward to restoring the 330 over time to enjoy with them as well.
