Thanks Tom, I agree with your summary and would add that the mechanical pump works great as long as the conditions are ideal: including a cool ambient temperature, engine bay cool, bowls already full etc. thanx. s

It's funny, my 330's mechanical fuel pump works great up until the ambient temperature reaches exactly 85 degrees F. A degree higher, and it starts to stall at stop lights without assistance from the electric fuel pump!

Don't forget, we are back to the boiling point of todays gasoline. These fuel systems were designed for fuels with a much higher boiling point.
